In 1991, the privately owned Argyle Prairie Museum began in the lower level of the historic Brant-Argyle School. Over the next 18 years, it grew to include several buildings and over 1,000 artifacts.
In 2009, the museum was gifted to the community of Argyle and a board of directors was struck to administer and guide it. As a community-run, volunteer-based non-profit organization, it gained charitable status from Canada Revenue Agency in 2013.
For over 30 years, there has been a museum in Argyle; that collects, exhibits, researches, and preserves our shared heritage. With the 2019 acquisition of land, the museum is now able to grow and flourish!
The museum's exhibition space is located in the lower level of the Argyle Community Centre.

Grosse Isle Heritage Site
Grosse Isle off Hwy 6. Enjoy the 1886 Ridgeway Heritage House with many antiques and artifacts from those past years. Volunteers will explain their use, open during the stopover of the Prairie Dog Central Railway. Joining this home is the fully restored East Rosser one-room schoolhouse, Gunton Wait Station, Emerson Train Station, and a caboose. Take a walk along the tallgrass prairie just north of the railway lines.

More than just a train ride! The Prairie Dog Central Railway operates a fully restored 1900-era vintage train with five wooden coaches pulled by either an 1882 steam or a 1950s classic GP9 diesel locomotive. Each unique trip incorporates station stops at Grosse Isle where there are local country vendors with home baking, produce and handicrafts. The Freight Shed offers souvenirs and gifts at the Inkster Junction Station.
The Prairie Dog Central runs most weekends and holiday Mondays from May through September with Halloween Express Trains running in October. Engineer for a day, party caboose, ride in the caboose, and charters available upon request.
