6. PRAIRIE GREEN (BFI) LANDFILL SITE: 694-7615 (R.M. of Rosser)
"WELL-MAPPING PROGRAM"
|
Since the Spring of 2002, the Rural Municipality of Rockwood has been compiling a "Well-Mapping Program" of all the wells located within its boundaries, being both active wells and abandoned wells. Once completed, the Municipality will seal all abandoned wells, on a schedule and in an order to be determined by the Municipality, in order to protect the aquifer from any contamination from these abandoned wells.
If the Municipality has not already contacted and obtained from you pertinent information about your
well(s), please contact the Administration Office as soon as possible at 467-2272. Thank you.
NOTE: There is no cost to the Property Owner for the sealing of abandoned
well(s) by the Municipality. |
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES:
- Private sewage disposal systems are regulated by the
Environment Act regulations.
- The Health Inspector at Selkirk MB, (204) 785-5021, is the
authority for information and permits required regarding
installation and operation of private sewage disposal systems.
- Permits are required for all septic holding tanks or fields
(subject to a fine) before any installations are made.
BURNING: By-Law #33/00 - Prevention of Fires in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood
- Allowable, open fires will not be permitted in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood without proper fireguards and must not be left unattended.
- NO BURNING WHATSOEVER DURING HOT, DRY SEASONS.
GARBAGE DISPOSAL:
- Dumping of garbage is strictly prohibited on roads, drains, other public property, and/or other private property.
CURBSIDE WASTE COLLECTION:
- Curbside Waste Collection Services are provided in the following Townsites of the Municipality:
- Grosse Isle (that portion located within the Municipality of Rockwood)
- Stony Mountain and specified areas, including Hillcrest Trailer Court
- Argyle
- Balmoral
- Gunton
- Stonewall Trailer Court
- Each residential unit is permitted to leave for curbside collection a maximum of two bags of garbage (green or black bags) and unlimited bags of recycling (blue or clear bags)
- Any residential unit with more than two bags of garbage for collection must have a surcharge sticker placed on each additional bag
- Cost for Surcharge Sticker(s) - $2.50 per sticker
- Any commercial unit is permitted to leave for curbside collection a maximum of four bags of garbage (green or black bags) and unlimited bags of recycling (blue or clear bags)
- Any commercial unit with more than two bags of garbage for collection must have a surcharge sticker placed on each additional bag
- Surcharge stickers may be purchased at the General Store in each Townsite or at the Municipal Office in Stonewall
WEED CONTROL: ROCKWOOD-ROSSER WEED CONTROL DISTRICT
- By the authority of the Noxious Weeds Act, Rockwood has the responsibility to control weeds on all properties in the Municipality.
- If weeds are not kept in check, the Weed Inspector, George Willis, may enter private property, control weeds, with the property owner being responsible for all costs.
